How long has Nimmi’s Salon been in Operation?
After a prolonged sabbatical from work, I decided to venture into the beauty industry seven years ago. Together my husband and I decided to open ‘Nimmi’s Salon’. Being an ex-model and having contacts in the industry, I decided to study about beauty culture and put it into practice.
The salon has been operating for the past seven years, and the fashion industry has helped in managing the business.
Last year was tough for the beauty industry, how did you manage to cope, and how did you cope with the situation?
Yes, the pandemic caused a lot of drawbacks in the beauty industry. The entire world was affected; businesses were badly hit. However, we followed all the acquired medical procedures assigned by the Health Ministry. Hence our standards were very high, therefore our clients felt safe within the premises. Though we observed a drastic drop in sales and services, our loyal client base stood by us.
What services do you offer?
The salon offers a variety of beauty and health treatments which is uniquely customized as per the requirement of each client. Additionally, we offer a range of services -several bridal packages, facials and skin enhancements and much more.
What plans do you have for 2021?
We are looking forward to accomplishing many delayed aspirations due to last year’s unprecedented set back. For instances, many weddings which were postponed, are scheduled will be held this year. We are also planning to launch the existing product to the local market towards mid-year.
How is the wellness brand shaping out?
We have a great range of products for facials to beauty and hair care and all the beauty related products available under Nimmis Salon. I am also the sole agent for Astaberry and Nutrispa products. Another beauty product range I have produced to the market in partnership with the colleague of mine is the brand Oxygen. Our main focus was export but now have also made it possible for our fellow Sri Lankan to have greater access to these products.
The product range is manufactured to an American formula using all organic products from Sri Lanka. The main base is virgin king coconut oil. Therefore, we guarantee 100% health benefits from our products. This is the very reason why it is doing well in the international market.
Since when have the two brands been in operation?
The brand, ‘Oxygen’, which has a growing clientele, was introduced to the International market many years ago and we have opened the availability to the Sri Lankan market since.
